A Study on the Halon alternatives

Abstract

|
This study was performed to suggest a basic technical data for the Halon fire system. Halon 1301 extinguishant was compared with the acceptable alternatives of NFPA(National Fire Protection Association). All alternatives have lower ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) than Halon 1301 so, it does not destroy the ozone layer but, high design consistency demand a large quantity of extinguishant. Additional study for the properties of Halon alternatives should be followed to recommend more suitable design data.
